Cisco UCS Rockets up the Charts to Number 1!
With a momentum that could not have been predicted in 2009, Cisco has taken the reins in leading the x86 blade market with an announcement today from the IDC Worldwide Quarterly Server Tracker for Q1 2014.
There has been massive traction in the North American market, but this is not an exclusive to that part of the world. Worldwide they are now #2 and growing also.
Boy oh Boy, Look at that YoY
Year over Year growth in the UCS x86 blade market share has Cisco eating a powerful 39% gain, while most of their competitors in the space were on the loss side, or with less than 14% gain as their nearest competitor Hitachi came through with.
Becoming the New Big Target
All eyes will be on Cisco now, and as they hold a growing piece of the blade market and are moving well in their converged platforms thanks to their partnerships like with VCE in their Vblock implementation.

So as we watch this growth, it will be important to see how competitors can respond to what Cisco is doing in the server space. Not bad for a networking company if you ask me.
