CoreOS Announces Series A Funding and Lots More!
As a fan of great open source projects, I was very keenly watching the CoreOS team as they have down some great work to produce and develop a new Linux offering that will inevitably become a strong part of many cloud and on-premises environments in the coming months and years.
More Linux? But Why?
This is the leading question from people around Linux distributions of course. Why are there more popping up? Despite the massive presence of Canonical’s Ubuntu and Centos, a Red Hat derivative, plus Red Hat themselves, SUSE and more, there is always room for more.
Effectively the driver for growing the ecosystem is customer based. The community represents the needs of customers, which creates the path to great products.
Among the announcements by the CoreOS team here we see that they are securing a Series A funding round, plus gaining great traction on many other fronts:
