Designing Your VMware VSAN HA Environment
We often scoff at the “Best Practices” designs because they typically over-provision more than illustrate the truth behind how to protect a high availability (HA) environment. Luckily, we come across some great articles sometimes which not only tell us the “how” of a HA design, but the “why” at the same time.
VMware and the HA VSAN Plan
VMware did it right with this one because it was listed as recommendations versus best practices. Designing VSAN HA implementations requires some finesse, and it is important to understand the importance of all of the components in a VSAN design.
As architects and administrators have to build with a plan in mind as to what we need to accomplish, and how to use the tools in front of us. VMware VSAN has the potential to make a big impact on the data center storage market, but without a solid understanding of the product, there is a risk of designs producing bad results.
Luckily, the VMware vSphere and VMware Storage teams are bringing great information to us which will help us to all have a positive view of what VMware VSAN can do and how to build your best Virtual SAN!
