HP Expands the Cloud with Helion Updates
HP recently announced multiple enhancements to their Helion Cloud product suite at HP Discover 2015. Since its initial announcement in 2014, the Helion Cloud has grown by leaps and bounds with a focus on HP enterprise customers.
HP Helion CloudSystem 9.0 was one of the key aspects of the announcement. Powered by OpenStack, CloudSystem seeks to provide a streamlined easy to use solution for their customers. CloudSystem comes in two flavors, CloudSystem Enterprise, which boasts a feature set to take enterprise customs on their end to end cloud journey, as well as CloudSystem Foundation, which is aimed at organizations beginning to get into the cloud infrastructure space.
HP Helion CloudSystem is focused on providing even more flexibility with the 9.0 release. CloudSystem 9.0 features integration with HP Helion OpenStack, as well as the HP Helion Development Platform. CloudSystem also now supports multiple hypervisors, such as Microsoft Hyper-V, RedHat KVM, and VMware vSphere, and multiple cloud environments, such as AWS, Azure, and HP Helion Public Cloud. In addition to compatibility with multiple cloud environments, HP also has extended compatibility with AWS environments. HP Helion Eucalyptus is open source hybrid cloud software aimed at AWS users. HP Helion Eucalyptus subscriptions start at $199 a month and seek to enable business agility with AWS compatibility while decreasing overall cloud expenditures.
HP Helion CloudSystem 9.0 can be implemented on top of a multi vendor hardware environment, or completely integrated with HP ConvergedSystem. With this announcement, HP Helion Managed Cloud services were also enhanced. HP provides a number of options for managed serves powered by the Helion Cloud. Helion Managed Private cloud provides infrastructure as a service solutions for enterprise applications, with multiple delivery choices, while Helion Managed Virtual Private Cloud provides cost effective scale by providing a multi-tennant cloud environment. HP Helion Managed Cloud for Resellers allows for resellers to provide their customers a hosted environment with their own customizations.
