Not Just Talk: VMware Touts SDDC and NSX With Customer Proven Deployments
With all of the marketing in place to drive the message of Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) and Software Defined Networking (SDN), it is difficult to see the real data among all the slide decks.
The Vision of Software Defined <insert product here>
Fundamental changes in how products and data centers are being managed and deployed are ahead. There have been Software Defined methods in play for quite some time, but the increase in focus on this is clear, and we are at the start of a shift in the industry across the board.
VMware has been an avid proponent of this change, and their engineering teams are making this vision a reality with changes in their products, some subtle, and some much more significant.
But What About NSX?
Since I did lead with a headline about NSX, it should be noted that VMware has come forward with a statement that they currently have over 100 paying customers deployed with VMware NSX. This is a clear shot to the doubters that NSX has only been implemented in reference customers and test environments.
On June 4th, VMware appeared at the 2014 Global Technology Conference with Bank of America. The full VMware webcast with Pat Gelsinger can be listened to at this link which also features the slide deck from the event.
