Maya Have This Dance? The Protonet Crowdfunded Social Server
In today’s world, crowdfunding is fast becoming a strategy to fund development of many things. While this venue began as a way to gather up money to produce movies and music, the amount of technology campaigns has proven that this is an exciting way to go from R&D to production.
Maya – The Protonet Social Server
German company Protonet has a variety of server offerings that are meant as small workgroup devices with the pitch of providing SMB (Small to Medium Business) customers with a one-button social infrastructure with total control of a secure private cloud. Very interesting if you ask me.
We are seeing more appliance-style devices like this hitting the market, and with the virtualization integration in this and similar offerings, this could be the wave of many future deployments for SMB.
Record Setting Pace in Funding
What makes this interesting is that the funding goal was reached in as much time as most people could download and install Linux. In a mere 89 minutes, the campaign had hit a 1 Million Euro mark, and continues to rise.
Congratulations to the Protonet team on this, and we will be eagerly watching how the product development goes on this.
