vCHS Disaster Recovery as a Service: Overview With Cormac Hogan
Cormac Hogan, Storage Architect for the Integration Engineering Team at VMware, has written a great post about the new VMware vCloud Hybrid Service (vCHS) Disaster Recover as a Service (DRaaS). If you didn’t get lost in the acronyms already, you should definitely read more about this great offering.
Quick, to the Cloud!
With on-premises deployments, you are usually bound by a number of limitations for setting up a secondary site that is more than a certain distance away to avoid power loss risks among other localized issues that could affect a region.
Adding the vCHS environment as a Disaster Recovery target for replicating your on-premises VMware systems is a natural way to extend your protection using native tools in the VMware ecosystem.
There are a lot of considerations obviously, but it is nice to see the quick view of how easy it can be to set up your vCHS target which could be a big factor in choosing your DR strategy. It is especially exciting since we recently covered the announcement that VMware vCHS will get a pay-as-you-go option in the coming months.
Cormac’s great post can be found here which provides a nice step-by-step walk through.
