VMware Hopping to DevOps With the Help of JFrog?
VMware has certainly indicated their strong interest in the success of software distribution startup JFrog as they led a 7 Million dollar Series B round of funding. Along with Gemini Ventures who led the Series A round for JFrog, we can see that VMware has an active goal to see JFrog succeed.
VMware + vCAC + Puppet + JFrog = DevOps beginnings
With VMware supporting companies through investment such as that which was done with Puppet, you can see that they have a vested interest in the product set. It does make sense that as a part of their overall offerings that a nice marriage of these technologies will lead to some strong DevOps potential.
It is also encouraging to see more support for open source companies. Unlike their stake in Puppet which was accompanied by a deeper partnership on product integration, the JFrog investment is more of a hands-off deal. The board of directors remains as it was prior to the additional funding round.
Venture Beat offers a great analysis of the funding round for JFrog, and we hope to see some great integration and growth from the investment.
