Free Data Protection and Virtualization Knowledge Videos From Veeam Backup Academy
I have to give Veeam some “kudos” (thats a good thing for those who aren’t familiar with the term) for their contributions to the virtualization community. Many vendors post whitepapers, blogs, videos, and podcasts about THEIR products but rarely do they make much of a contribution to the overall virtualization community in the form of educational content. Veeam has always done a great job of supporting the community but recently I was impressed by their virtualization community contributions – big and small – that have nothing to do with their product line. David wrote about some of their latest contributions in his post – Free Virtualization Admin Resources from Veeam.
Recently I talked with Rick Vanover, Senior Product Specialist at Veeam about their upcoming new release, Backup and Replication 7. While skimming their website I was reminded about their Backup Academy site and clicked on the link. I was impressed by not only the video-based education about data protection but the extend of the number of general virtualization topics that they cover now.
For example, here are 4 of their latest backup academy training videos that are unrelated to data protection but provide some valuable virtualization tech knowledge:
Why Virtual Machine Backups are Different by David Davis, Backup Academy
vSphere 5.5: New Features and Tips, Rick Vanover
What’s New in Windows Server 2012 R2 by Mike Resseler
Keep Hyper-V Healthy by Brien Posey
VMware vCloud Director and How it Works by David Hill
Additionally, Veeam has recently released a FREE collection of VMware and Hyper-V virtualization Visio stencils that can be used by virtualization admins, system integrators and data center managers to create their own diagrams in Microsoft Visio 2003, 2007, 2010 or 2013.
These are great for Hyper-V or VMware planning, design, and documentation!
